Born in the multi-racial country that is Singapore, Derek's music encompasses languages from different parts of the world. He currently serves as Section Percussion in the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. 

 

His immaculate sensitivity has made him one of the most highly sought after percussionists in Singapore and he has played in the United States, United Kingdom and Asia.
